This is actually two months update as we have not had time to write in December. A lot has happened since our last update. We have visited the farmers in Somalia and added more nomad farmers to our program. The drought situation in Somalia has unfortunately gotten worse and is expected to get worse until spring, which will hopefully start in April.
We have also had security problems in the south Somalia that has delayed updates from the animals in the region of Lower Shabelle. We are hoping to find a solution for that. We have added more animals from central Somalia where the security is better but due to the risks poised by droughts we have been hesitating to buy more animals.
However, we have a mission to help the farmers so we have been working with them to find a good deal, where we can support them now and get animals from them in the spring. These people and their animals are on the brink of starvation right now. There is no more pasture for their animals so they need to buy food and water for themselves and their animals.
In the app, we have also added more information about the animals and general information about the program. Visit the information menu to learn more.
We have also got a grant from Microsoft BizSpark to get access to free software and cloud hosting. Thank you!
And finally we have just updated our website.
